I think I am posting very easy recipes nowadays😛😛. But hey… These are very interesting for new bees of kitchen☺️.

UPMA… A very famous and healthy food of Southern India. I love this in breakfast and always try to maky during weekends because weekdays are packed up with juices of fruits and veggies in the morning💪🏻.

This recipe can be served to 3 persons in breakfast or snacks.

RECIPE:

Ingredients:

1 cup semolina

2+2 tsp refined oil or ghee if you wish

1/2 tsp mustard seeds

1/2 tsp each of chana and urad daal

1/2 tsp grated ginger

2 chopped green chillies

1/2 tsp granulated sugar

1 large julienned onion

10-15 curry leaves

1 large chopped tomatoes

1/2 cup green peas

Salt

1 cup hot water approximately

4-5 drops of lemon juice

You can add few chopped dry fruits especially cashews and raisins to make it more exotic at the end of cooking.

METHOD:

Take 2 tsp oil in a pan. Roast semolina only until heated but it should change its colour. Transfer it into a bowl.

By the time heat water and keep it ready.

Now in the same pan add oil. Let it gets heated. Add mustard seeds, urad and chana daal. Let it splutter.

Add ginger and chillies. Fry for 30 seconds.

Add onion and curry leaves together. Add sugar. Fry for a minute. Add chopped tomatoes and peas. Add 1/2 tsp of salt. Cover and let it cook on medium high until melted and you can see the oil spluttering on the sides.

Add semolina and mix all. Add water and salt. Now keep on stirring. Add salt and fry until water evaporates and gives upma type consistency. It should be felt lighter. This much you have to fry. Hardly it takes 5-7 minutes for this procedure. Switch off the flame. Add lemon juice. Mix well.

Serve hot!!!!
